Designing the Heart of Sabin
By David Sweet
There is a triangle of land on the corner of 15th and Prescott. A Century ago it was the terminus for the Irvington-Jefferson Streetcar Line that ran all the way from SW 18th and Jefferson. Now it’s a slab of concrete with no particular use. What could it become? Please join us as we dream together about the future of this public space.
The Sabin Community Association’s general meeting, Monday, May 9, at Sabin School, will be devoted to a discussion of design options for the “Sabin Triangle.” There will be a social hour and plant exchange at 6:00, and the meeting begins at 7:00. Architect, Mark Nye will bring drawings of some design options for this space. Please come and help us create a community place that could become the heart of Sabin.

Any chance there could be childcare at this meeting? I have 2 young kids (age 3 and 5) and would love to attend something like this but no idea how to logistically unless i hire a sitter, something that's somewhat expensive.
Mim, we are working on childcare, but I fully expect that we will have it, so I hope you will join us!
I will post a notice about the May meeting later this month and will note whether or not we have childcare.
Thanks!
Good news! Childcare will be provided at the May 9 meeting.
Thanks! Looking forward to it!
Leave the Sabin Triangle alone you busybodies!
Dear Anonymous,
The SCA invites you to attend the May 9th meeting to express why you think the Sabin Triangle should be left as it is. We hope to see you there!
Due to a sick kid, I couldn't make it last night. Would love to see a blog post about what was discussed at the meeting. (My 5 yr old wanted me to push for putting in a fountain for kids to play in!)
Mim,
Sorry we missed you. Yes, we will be posting something soon about the discussion we had on the re-design of the triangle. It was a good discussion with lots of great ideas. When we post it to the website, be sure to leave your comments there! There will be another presentation of a revised design at National Night Out (Aug. 2nd), which we'll hold at the Triangle space. Stay tuned....
